The transition to digital signage is made easy with a Content Management System (CMS). This user-friendly software lets you easily upload or make content and put together new displays. You can include different types of media like pictures, videos, web pages, business information, menus, live news, weather forecasts, and more in these displays.
Then, media player software takes the content from the CMS and displays it. This digital signage software improves how you communicate, allowing you to show your content on multiple screens almost immediately.

What are the components of a signage solution?
Digital signage has three main components: the screen, the server, and the media player.
- The Screen: There are two types of screens: Standard displays and System on Chip (SoC) screens. SoC screens, like those from Samsung, LG, Philips, and Sony, have everything, including the media player, built inside the screen. The other type functions like a regular TV and requires an external media player to show digital signage content. Both types work well with professional digital signage software.
- The Server: The server is crucial for managing your content. Users can upload or create content and create programs to display on the screen using a content manager. In a cloud-based system, the server is hosted by the software vendor or a system integrator, with a monthly fee for each hosted media player. Another option is on-premises hosting, where the user manages the server on their infrastructure. In this case, the customer buys software licenses and pays an annual SLA fee.
- The Media Player: Non-SoC displays require a separate media player. This player connects to the screen using an HDMI cable and can be a Windows PC, Android media player, BrightSign media player, or similar devices. It downloads the digital signage content from the server and displays it on the screen. A reliable digital signage system from a reputable company should support popular media player types.
